The drama series "The Kidnapping Day" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9pm) starring actor Takumi Saito will start on July 8th. The series is based on the drama of the same name (2023) that became a hot topic in Korea. The story depicts the escape of the kind-hearted but clumsy kidnapper Masamune Shinjo, played by Saito, and the amnesiac genius girl Rin Nanase, played by child actor Yuno Nagao Nagao, as they are pursued by unidentified men.
Episode 1: One summer night, Shinjo was trying to kidnap Rin, the daughter of a wealthy hospital director. In order to secure the huge amount of money for the operation of his daughter Mei (Kusaka Riho), who suffers from a serious heart disease. His wife Shiori (Yumi Adachi) planned the kidnapping.
However, Shinjo, who is a naturally kind person, is unable to make up his mind even when the day of the act arrives, and is forced by Shiori, who gives him instructions over the phone, to come to the director's house. However, a girl suddenly jumps out in front of Shinjo's car. Shinjo narrowly avoids an accident by slamming on the brakes, but the girl faints and collapses. Shinjo rushes over to her and is shocked to see the girl's face. The unconscious girl is none other than Rin, the kidnapping target.
Shinjo was surprised that the kidnapping was a success, but when Rin woke up, she said something unexpected: "Who am I?" Rin seemed to have lost her memory, so Shinjo quickly lied and said "I'm the dad," forcing him to play the role of the father. What's more, the kidnapped Rin was a genius child who spoke multiple languages, was knowledgeable, and had sharp ideas.
Shinjo calls Rin's father, the hospital director, Mamoru Nanase (Shuhei Handa), to demand a ransom, but for some reason the call doesn't go through. Feeling suspicious, he goes to check on the Nanase family home, only to find police cars lined up in front of the gate, and a mixture of media and onlookers. Rin's parents, the hospital director and his wife, have been murdered by someone.
Shinjo is now not only a kidnapper, but also a murder suspect, and an unidentified man attacks Rin in an attempt to take her away.
Snow Man's Tatsuya Fukazawa, Yuki Uchida, Yosuke Eguchi and others will also appear. The first episode will be broadcast for 6 minutes longer.
