The first episode of the drama series " DOPE " (TBS, Friday 10pm), starring Kaito Takahashi of the popular group "King & Prince" and actor Tomoya Nakamura , was broadcast on July 4th. Viewers commented that Nakamura's character, Teppei Jinnai, was "too cool," creating a buzz.

The story is based on the same-titled novel (Kadokawa Bunko) by Kizaki Chiaki, who made her debut as a novelist after winning the grand prize at the 20th Dengeki Novel Prize with "Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens." Set in a near-future Japan where a mysterious new drug called "DOPE" is rampant, Saiki Yuto (Takahashi), a rookie narcotics agent of the secret Narcotics Control Department's Special Investigation Division (Special Investigation Division), and Jinnai Teppei (Nakamura), the division's trainer, attempt to solve a mysterious case.
A hostage situation occurs where people taking DOPE, commonly known as "Dopers," take hostages. Saiki, who has the ability to predict the future, heads to the scene, but finds himself in a pinch due to a Doper who can control fire.
As the flames that Doper unleashed fly towards Saiki, Jinnai saves him in the nick of time. Jinnai shouts at Saiki, "Are you an idiot?"
Doper collapses once due to "overheating", but wakes up again. Jinnai lectures him with a cigarette in his mouth, saying, "How embarrassing. You got fired and are just desperate. You think the world is to blame, or the company is to blame, right? It's not. It's all your fault." Enraged, Doper throws a flame at Jinnai.
Jinnai skillfully avoided the flames and approached the doper. In the end, with a cigarette still in his mouth, he shot the doper dead, saying "Thank you for your hard work."
