Singer Shizuka Kudo appeared on the talk variety show "Oshare Clip" (Nippon TV) broadcast on June 29th. She revealed the "lifetime gift" she received from Sanma Akashiya.
The studio guest on this day was Sanma, and four people who "know Sanma inside and out" -- Kudo, Iijima Naoko, Wakatsuki Chinatsu, and Yokoyama Reina from Morning Musume '25 -- appeared on video and talked about Sanma's private life.
Kudo-san and Sanma have been friends since they co-starred together in their teens, and are close enough that she even gives them love advice in private. "He's like an uncle to me. Even though we don't keep in touch, I feel like we're connected somehow," she said. Her husband, Takuya Kimura, is also friends with Sanma, and Sanma said with a smile, "There are some things I have to take to my grave with that family."
Kudo said that Sanma "gave me a gift that will last a lifetime," and expressed his gratitude, saying, "About 15 years ago, I think? He installed a rock sauna in my room, and paid for all the installation costs. He said, 'This is a gift that will last a lifetime!'"
Sanma said it was a birthday present, and recalled, "I thought maybe it was a refrigerator or a TV, so I said, 'Tell me what you want,' and she said, 'Rock bath,' (laughs)." He continued, "It was a ridiculously expensive gift. So (Kudo) said, 'I never want another present.' She gives me presents, but I never give any to Shizuka."
