The all-new Lupin the Third animated film, Lupin the Lupin the Third: Immortal Bloodline, based on the manga by the late Monkey Punch, was released on June 27th, and it was revealed that the mastermind behind the film is the legendary, powerful enemy, Mamo. Mamo is a legendary nemesis who made a strong impression on fans when he appeared in the first film, Lupin the Third : Lupin vs. the Clones, released in 1978. In the new film, he appears as the mastermind behind the immortal Muom, who stands in the way of Lupin and his gang. A clip from the film depicting Mamo's appearance has been released on YouTube.
The new movie is the first 2D animated movie in about 30 years since Monkey Punch's first directorial work, "Lupin the Third: Dead or Alive" (1996), and is directed by Koike Takeshi, who has worked on the "Lupin the IIIrd" series. The story is set on a mysterious island that is not on any map, and as Lupin and his friends board the island in search of treasure, they are confronted by an unidentified entity known as the "Immortal Bloodline." Even before its release, the movie was touted as "a story that connects all of the Lupin the Third," and the true meaning of this became clear with the appearance of Mamo.
From the day it was released, it has been a hot topic on social media, with comments such as "A masterpiece filled with everything that's fun about Lupin the Third!", "It was honestly the best!", "Hard-boiled Lupin is super hot", and "It's been a while since I've come across such a hard-hitting manga anime!"
"LUPIN THE IIIRD Zenigata and the Two Lupins," a prequel to "LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE: The Immortal Bloodline," is currently streaming on Prime Video and other video streaming services.
