It has been announced that the Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis, the only official men's tennis ATP Tour tournament held in Japan, which begins on September 24th, will be broadcast live every day on WOWOW. Carlos Alcaraz (Spain), who recently won back-to-back titles at the French Open, will be taking part in the tournament for the first time, as well as Kei Nishikori, who made it to the quarterfinals in singles last year after a six-year absence, and Kaito Oda, who is aiming for his third consecutive title in wheelchair singles.
Alcaraz commented, "I'm excited to be going to Japan for the first time. Japanese people are very kind and I have the impression that Japan is a safe country. The main reason I decided to come to Japan for the first time is because I want to see this beautiful country and the city of Tokyo. I've also heard good things about the tournament. I'm good at scoring various points with trick plays, so I hope people will see that. I want to play well while feeling the energy of the Japanese fans."
He continued, "I wasn't able to play against Kei (Nishikori) at the French Open (due to his withdrawal after the match was decided), but I hope to play against him again soon. I really admire Kei. He has a beautiful way of hitting the ball and is a player who can do anything with ease."
The Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Tournament will be held from September 24th to 30th at Ariake Coliseum and Ariake Tennis Forest Park (both in Koto Ward, Tokyo). It will be broadcasted live every day on WOWOW.
