Kaito Nakamura of the popular group "Travis Japan" appeared at an event for Disney's live-action movie "Lilo & Stitch" (directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp, released June 6th) held in Tokyo on June 3rd. Nakamura, who voices David in the Japanese version, was asked about his "ohana (family)" in reference to the content of the film, and he replied, "I guess it would be a member of the group (Travis Japan)."
Looking back on when he was chosen to play the role of David, Nakamura explained, "The other members were even happier than I was." He went on to say, "As an ohana and as a family, I'm glad that the other members were there, and I thought it was wonderful to have people close to me who would be happy to hear about it."
Furthermore, when asked about how he first encountered Stitch, Nakamura replied, "Stitch was the first stuffed animal I bought when I was in elementary school." He continued, "I slept with it all the way through until I was in high school. I still have it at my parents' house...it's a memory for me, so I can't bring myself to throw it away."
The event was titled a "tearjerker screening" and was attended by Koichi Yamadera, who voices Stitch in the Japanese version, and MOMONA from the 11-member girl group "ME:I," who plays Nani. At the event, members of "ME:I" made a surprise appearance, as did Nagao Yuno, who plays Lilo. At Yuno's request, MOMONA sang "Aloha Oe," a song that MOMONA sings in the movie, and there was also a moment when Yuno performed a hula dance to the song, moving Yamadera and Nakamura.
The film is a live-action adaptation of Disney's animation "Lilo & Stitch." It is a fantasy set on the island of Kauai in Hawaii, depicting the important bond of "ohana (family)." A young girl named Lilo and her older sister Nani, who have lost their parents, are confronted by Stitch, a rowdy alien who knows no family love. Stitch's unpredictable actions cause chaos on the peaceful island, but this miraculous encounter eventually changes the sisters, who had almost lost hope.
