Talent Maki Karusell will be appearing on BS12 TwellV's program "Tsurube-chan and Sawako-chan: A Showa-era senior and two strange people," which will be broadcast from 9 p.m. on May 26. The preview shows phrases such as "A (secret) friendship with Shintaro Katsu," "Yujiro Ishihara helped me make my debut," and "A brutal story of a sex change operation," as well as a scene where Karusell says, "I looked like a pickled radish."
Each episode of the show features guests from the Showa era, including Tsurube, who has 52 years of show business experience, and Agawa, who has 40 years of experience, who are called "Tsurube-chan" and "Sawako-chan."
Carousel is from Kushiro, Hokkaido, and grew up in a large family with nine siblings. He says he has always known he was a girl at heart. He will share a number of surprising anecdotes, including the bizarre circumstances that led him to start working in a gay bar while he was a student, the golden age of gay bars, the brutal sex change operation he underwent in Morocco and the troubles that followed.
He will also talk about his friendships with many celebrities, including Yujiro Ishihara, Tamao Nakamura, and his close friend Kiwako Taichi, as well as the film "Carve Joy into the Voice of January," in which he starred and won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 79th Mainichi Film Awards.
