It has been revealed that actor Fuka Koshiba , who played the role of the courtesan Segawa in the NHK Taiga drama " UNBOUND ," will co-star with Takeru Satoh in the Amazon Original drama "Marry My Husband," which will be released on June 27. The protagonist, played by Koshiba, is betrayed by her best friend and husband, and travels back in time to vow to take revenge on the cool department chief, played by Sato, in this joint Japan-Korea project.
The original work is a Naver web novel of the same name, which was made into a web comic and a live-action drama in Korea. It is the first Japanese video project to be planned by a collaboration between CJ ENM, a major Korean entertainment company that produced the Academy Award-winning film "Parasite," and Studio Dragon, a Korean production company known for "Crash Landing on You" and other works.
The protagonist Kobe Misa (Koshiba), who has always lived a life of a "supporting character" because she is too kind and always puts others first, believes in her best friend and husband and continues to do her best, but she loses her life due to their betrayal. However, she suddenly realizes that she has traveled back in time to 10 years ago. Misa plans revenge to ruin her former best friend and husband, but her encounter with Suzuki Wataru (Sato), a department manager with whom she had no connection in her first life, brings about a new change in Misa's heart as she seeks revenge...
Additionally, Shiraishi Sei will play Misa's childhood friend and only close friend, Esaka Reina, while Yokoyama Yu from the popular group "SUPER EIGHT" will play Misa's first husband, Hirano Tomoya.
The screenplay is written by Oshima Satomi, who won the Best Screenplay Award at the 48th Japan Academy Awards for the film "90 Years Old. What's So Celebratory?", and the film will be directed by Ahn Gil-ho, known for "The Glory" and other films.
Koshiba commented, "Misa vows revenge and grows stronger, but I tried to portray her as someone Wataru can't leave alone, someone he wants to help, someone who is too straightforward and kind and therefore conflicted about her revenge, and someone he wants to root for." Sato said, "The story has been developed to retain the good parts of the original and further enhance its appeal. The second half of the story is unique to the original Japanese version, so even those who have already seen it will enjoy the suspenseful experience."
The Amazon Original drama "Marry My Husband" consists of 10 episodes and will be released on Prime Video from June 27th, with two episodes every Friday for five weeks.
