In the previous episode 17, when Nobu (Imada) comes to the Yanai house to study, he can't find Takashi ( Takumi Kitamura). While walking along the railroad tracks, Takashi remembers the conversation he heard last night. He then tells Kusakichi (Sadao Abe) about his childhood memories with Chihiro. At the same time, Nobu, who was waiting for Takashi in his room, hears from Chihiro (Motoki Nakazawa) about her feelings for Takashi.

In episode 18, after a fight between Nobu and Chihiro, Hiroshi (Yutaka Takenouchi) tells them once again that he doesn't need a successor. Nobu and Nobu both study hard.

"Anpan" is based on the married couple Takashi Yanase(1919-2013) and Nobuyuki (1918-1993), the manga artist and picture book writer who created "Anpanman." It is a "story of love and courage" that will make you feel the joy of living, depicting how these two, who were once nobody, overcame all sorts of rough seas and arrived at "Anpanman," the embodiment of "unreversible justice."
