Actor Mizuki Yamashita appeared on stage on April 19th at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo) to greet the audience at the opening ceremony of the latest film in the popular anime series " Detective Conan , " based on the manga by Gosho Aoyama . This is Yamashita's first foray into voice acting, and she is also attracting attention for playing Marui Madoka, a researcher at the National Astronomical Observatory Nobeyama, which is equipped with a huge parabolic antenna. Yamashita spoke about the preview screening for people involved, saying, "I was seated between Yamada-san ( Takayuki Yamada, who plays Otomo Takashi) and Aoyama-sensei, and my hands were sweating non-stop... It was an amazing experience."
This was her first attempt at voice acting, and she struggled, saying, "For the scene where I drink from a mug, I actually drank from a paper cup and recorded it. No matter how many times I did it, it sounded like the sound of slurping soba noodles...It was a difficult first experience."
When asked about the appeal of "Detective Conan," he said, "I like the strength of the female characters. I was thrilled by each of their strengths and coolness."
Also taking to the stage to greet the audience were Minami Takayama, who plays Edogawa Conan, Yamazaki Wakana, who plays Mouri Ran, Koyama Rikiya, who plays Mouri Kogoro, Takada Yuji, who plays Yamato Gansuke, Ami Koshimizu, who plays Uehara Yui, and Takayuki Yamada, who plays Otomo Takashi.
"One-Eyed Flashback" is set in the snowy mountains of Nagano Prefecture, and depicts the "sleeping memory" that connects two seemingly unrelated people, Kogoro, who is asleep, and Yamato Gansuke, a Nagano Prefectural Police officer. While Gansuke is chasing a "certain man" in the snowy mountains, a bullet grazes his left eye and he is caught in an avalanche. Ten months later, Gansuke miraculously survives and receives a report that a researcher at Nobeyama Observatory has been attacked by someone, and rushes to the scene, but as soon as the observatory's parabolic antenna starts moving, his one-eyed left eye suddenly begins to tingle. Kogoro and Conan have arranged to meet a former colleague from the Metropolitan Police Department who is investigating an avalanche accident, and on their way to the meeting place, a gunshot rings out. The film was released on April 18th, and on the first day of release, it made a rocket start, grossing 1.05 billion yen and attracting over 690,000 viewers.
"Detective Conan" is a manga that depicts Conan Edogawa solving a succession of difficult cases. It began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) in 1994. A TV anime series has been broadcast since 1996. The comics have sold over 270 million copies in total. The 27th film, "Detective Conan: One million dollar guidepost," released last year, grossed over 15.8 billion yen, breaking the record for the highest box office revenue in the series' history.
