The final 125th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Omusubi " starring Kanna Hashimoto was broadcast on March 28th. An unexpected character reappeared at the end, which became a hot topic among viewers.
In the final episode, Yui ( Riisa Naka) that she may have been naive in thinking about adopting Uta (Oshima Miyu). She encouraged her, saying that it was not like a gal to not take a step forward because she was worried about a hypothetical situation, and encouraged her by saying that they should all raise Uta together, rather than raising her alone. Having made up her mind, Ayumi welcomed Uta into her family and ate the local Itoshima dish "somen chiri" with Yui and the others to "celebrate Uta becoming a member of the family."
A year later, Yui, Shoya (Hayato Sano), and Hana (Chise Niitsu) visit Masato (Yukiya Kitamura) and Aiko (Kumiko Aso) who have moved to Itoshima. Yui and the others enjoy oysters at a restaurant run by childhood friends Yota (Araki Sugo) and Emi (Mori Nakamura). They also enjoy Itoshima by visiting the beach where Yui and Shoya first met.
Then, on January 17, 2025, 30 years after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, Yui is making Omusubi when Ayumu asks, "Are you going again this year?" Yui smiles and says, "Yes," and visits Masami Miura (Chiyoko Ando), who gave Omusubi balls at the evacuation center during the disaster. At the time of the disaster, Yui was still young and said to Masami, "Auntie, this is cold, microwave it,"when Omusubi received a rice ball from her, and she has regretted that ever since.
When Yui takes the Omusubi out of the storage container and hands it to Masami, she smiles and says, "It's still warm." Masami happily comments, "It's delicious," and the story ends with the two of them munching on the Omusubi side by side in a park with a view of the sea.
