It has been announced that a new work, "Hell Teacher Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube ", based on the popular manga "Hell Teacher Nube" by Sho Makura and Takeshi Okano, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), will start serialization in the June issue of the manga magazine "Saikyō Jump" (Shueisha), which goes on sale on May 2nd. Nube will play a major role across time and space to save the students of Class 5-3, including Hiro and Goko, who have been drawn into a world of ghost stories. The work has been a hot topic as it will be the first new anime to be produced in about 26 years since the 1999 OVA (Original Video Animation) "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube: The Greatest Battle in History! Zetsuki Raishū!!", and the manga will also be revived.
The announcement was made on March 23rd at AnimeJapan 2025, one of the world's largest anime events, held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto-ku, Tokyo). The cast members who will play the students of Class 5-3, for whom Nube is the homeroom teacher in the new anime, were also announced, including Natsumi Fujiwara as Yamaguchi Akira, Takagaki Ayahi as Shiroto Shuichi, Nao Toyama Nao as Nakajima Noriko, Makino Yui as Kikuchi Shizuka, and Inoyama Shoji as Kaneda Masaru. Miyuri Shimabukuro, the younger sister who is always looked after by Kimura Katsuya, one of the main characters.
Fujiwara, who plays Yamaguchi Akira, expressed her joy at being in the show, saying, "I've been watching this show since I was a child, so I'm very happy to be involved this time! The series is packed with episodes that could only be made in the modern era, so I hope everyone will enjoy watching all the episodes. Thank you very much!"
Takagaki, who plays Shiroto Shuichi, commented, "My family and I loved this show, like when I Nube with my younger brother using the Demon Paw toy. Even after I grew up I would often remember it and think, 'That might be Kesaranpasaran,' so I'm honoured to be a member of Class 5-3 as Shiroto Shuichi! At first glance, it may seem like I'm boasting about being rich, but Shuichi is innocent, naive and pure. I hope you'll look forward to his exploits!"
Higashiyama, who plays Nakajima Noriko, said, "It's like a dream to be able to appear in ' Nube,' which I watched as a child...! With so many cast members gathering together, the dubbing site is always as lively as a school. I am also grateful to Okiayu (Ryutaro) for always being considerate of every corner of the studio. I will do my best as a cast member of the Reiwa version! Please look forward to it♪."
Makino, who plays Kikuchi Shizuka, commented, "I remember rushing home from cram school every week because I wanted to watch ' Nube' on air. I wish I could tell myself back then, 'I'm so happy to be a student in Nube class as Shizuka in the Reiwa version and to be able to talk to the teacher, I'm shaking with excitement.' I got such goosebumps while rehearsing at home with the script in hand that I couldn't help but cry out loud. I couldn't help but smile and say, 'This is it!' I hope everyone enjoys it."
Inoyama, who plays Kaneda Katsu, said, "I will be appearing in ' Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube' as Kaneda Katsu! I was surprised when it was decided and thought, 'No way! I can appear in that ' Nube'!?' As Kaneda Katsu, I am playing the role with the spirit of 'I'm number one!!' Please enjoy the Reiwa era's ' Nube' as Kaneda Katsu! Please look forward to it!"
Shimabukuro, who plays Kimura Aimi, said, "I have been given the opportunity to voice Katsuya's younger sister, Aimi. I never thought that the day would come when I would be able to enter the world of ' Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube' in my life...! I am trembling with joy. I thought about how I could express her cuteness so that she would be a source of energy for Katsuya, and delivered the 'Big Brother' line. I hope you will enjoy it!"
"Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube" is a manga written by Makura Shou and illustrated by Okano Takeshi, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 1993 to 1999. The story follows Meisuke Nueno(Nube), a young teacher assigned to Domori Elementary School, who solves a series of incidents with the power of the "demon hand" that resides in his left arm. The official sequel, "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube NEO", was serialized in "Grand Jump" (same publisher) from 2014 to 2018, and "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube S" was serialized in "Saikyō Jump" (same publisher) from 2018 to 2021. The series has sold a total of approximately 29 million copies.
The TV anime series was broadcast from 1996 to 1997, and was also made into an OVA and a movie. In 2014, a TV drama starring Ryuhei Maruyama was broadcast.
The new anime is also attracting attention because Ryotaro Okiayu , who played the main character, Meisuke Nueno , in the TV anime, movie anime, and OVA that aired from 1996 to 1997, will reprise his role. The series will be broadcast on TV Asahi's anime slot "IMAnimation W" every Wednesday at 11:45 pm from July.
