It has been announced that the novel "The Hero's Scum" by Rocket Shokai, which won the grand prize in the modern action category of the "1st Kakuyomu Web Novel Contest", will be made into a TV anime and broadcast on the Nippon TV network. The manga adaptation by Nakashima723 has sold over 50,000 copies in total despite being privately produced and distributed, making it a major indie work that has been nominated for the "Next Manga Award" two years in a row. The anime will be produced by OLM, which also produced "Pokemon" and "The Apothecary Diaries". A teaser visual featuring the characters and a special trailer have been released.
"The Hero's Scum" is set in the underworld of Tokyo in the mid-21st century, where the mafia rule over the "Demon King" who has undergone Ether (magic) strengthening surgery, where heroes who use drugs to strengthen their Ether abilities and fight against the Demon King become bounty hunters, and where "being a hero is a business for the lowest scum." A modern-day supernatural action story in which a scum master and self-proclaimed disciple, a freelance hero "Grim Reaper" Yashiro and a high school girl apprentice hero, Jogamine, get caught up in an incident... The latest 7th volume of the comic adaptation will be released on March 21st.
