According to the movie attendance rankings for the 7th to 9th of March announced on March 10th (surveyed by Kogyo Tsushinsha), the 44th film in the popular anime series "Doraemon", the latest theatrical release "Doraemon: Nobita's Art World Tales" (directed by Teramoto Yukiyo), took the top spot on its first appearance. In the three days since its release on March 7th, it attracted around 571,000 people. It recorded a box office income of around 703 million yen, getting off to a good start.
"Wicked" (directed by Jon M. Chu), which also debuted, ranked second. This is the first part of a two-part live-action adaptation of a popular Broadway musical starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. In the three days since its release on March 7, it attracted an audience of about 321,000 people and grossed about 519 million yen.
Other first-time entries include "35th Year Love Letter" (directed by Tsukamoto Renpei), based on a true story and starring Shofutei Tsurube and Harada Ryubi Miyase, which ranked in eighth place.
"First Kiss" (directed by Ayuko Tsukahara), which had returned to first place last week, is now in fourth place, drawing in about 102,000 viewers over the three-day weekend and earning about 156 million yen. In total, the film has attracted 1.38 million viewers and grossed over 1.9 billion yen.
