The main cast of the TV anime "Kunon the Sorcerer Can See", based on a popular light novel on the novel posting site "Shosetsuka ni Naro", has been announced, with Saori Hayami playing the blind genius magician Kunon Geryon and Maaya Uchida playing Kunon's maid, Iko Round. A teaser visual was also released, dynamically depicting Kunon creating eyes with his specialty water magic.
Hayami commented on the work, "I was thrilled to see how a shy boy discovers the light through one incident and undergoes a change that amazed those around him. I think the tempo of the conversations between the characters and the somewhat comical atmosphere can only be experienced in this work."
Regarding the character she plays, Uchida said, "Iko is full of energy, always cheerful, and supports Kunon, while having a huge influence on him. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of person Kunon will grow into with her constant love and humor!"
A stage event for the series will be held on March 23rd at AnimeJapan 2025, which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto-ku, Tokyo), with Hayami and Uchida appearing on stage.
The work is a light novel written by Minamino Umikaze and illustrated by Laruha. It is a "magic exploration" fantasy in which Kunon, a blind genius magician, pursues the study of magical tools and magic, striving towards his goal of "creating eyes with magic." The light novel has been published up to volume 7 by Kadokawa Books (KADOKAWA), and the comic adaptation is also gaining popularity.
