On June Getsuku , an event celebrating the release of "Chloe & Emma," an original drama series on Amazon's video streaming service "Prime Video," was held at the former Hosokawa Duke's Residence (Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo), with Mikako Tabe stars Hana Sugisaki and Mikako Tabe in attendance. The drama follows 30-year-old Emma (Sugisaki), who loses love, work, and home all at once, as she ends up at the mansion of the mysterious wealthy Chloe (Tabe). The two begin living together by chance and eventually open a fortune-telling shop... Sugisaki reflected on the filming, saying, "When there were extraordinary elements in a scene, Tabe's performance instantly made it more convincing. She has that kind of power, and I felt like I was being led by her because she was so steady and composed."
On the 10th, it was revealed that Riisa Naka will star in the July drama series "Tokyo middle 30" (Fuji TV, Wednesdays at 10 PM). This will be Naka's first leading role in a drama series on the network. Naka will play Maki Sakura, a housewife, and the main characters are Maki, Haruka Yamaji, and Kaoruko Nagano. The three were high school classmates. Maki is beautiful, intelligent, and has a strong personality. She envisioned a future as a successful career woman in Tokyo and achieved her dream job, but currently she spends her days as a housewife raising her 5-year-old son and supporting her husband's beauty clinic from behind the scenes. However, deep down she is troubled by lingering regrets and conflicts about her career. As she listens to Haruka and Kaoruko talk about their work, those feelings grow stronger... and so the story unfolds.
On the 10th, it was revealed that Akari Hayami and Kentaro Ito will co-star in the TV Tokyo drama series "Just Eating Together" (Thursdays at midnight), which will begin airing on July 2nd. It is a love story of "gourmet" and "adultery" in which two married people are drawn to each other as they share meals. Sawada Taki (Hayami), a cooking instructor, feels empty in her daily life with her husband who never says that the food is delicious, and Saito Rei (Ito), a magazine editor whose wife only prepares frozen food for him, and who doesn't accept his desire to feed his vegetable-hating daughter home-cooked meals. The two meet through their work, cook meals together, eat together, and fulfill each other's needs.
On the 10th, it was revealed that Morioka Ei, who gained popularity as a child actress for her excellent portrayal of the main character Maruko in the live-action version of "Chibi Maruko-chan" (Fuji TV, 2006), will co-star with Maeda Koki in "Shall We Become a Couple Again? ~Camouflage Couple~," a NTV drama in the "Drama DEEP" slot starting in July. The story follows Aiko (Morioka), who was enjoying a happy married life, when she discovers that her husband, Seiichi (Maeda), who works for a top company, is having an affair. When Aiko finds out she is pregnant, she decides to give birth and raise the child alone. Meanwhile, Seiichi, realizing his own foolishness and the depth of his love for Aiko, wishes to start over... The drama will air every Monday at 12:24 AM starting July 6th. The first episode will air at 12:34 AM.
On the 11th, new cast members were announced for the NHK Taiga drama "BROTHERS IN ARMS (Toyotomi Brothers!)" (NHK General, Sundays at 8pm, etc.), starring Taiga Nakano, revealing that Takashi Naito, Mayu Tsuruta, and Riku Onishi will be appearing. Naito will play Saito Toshimitsu, a chief retainer of the Akechi family. He is a man of both intelligence and courage, and is Mitsuhide's right-hand man, enjoying his absolute trust. On the 11th, it was revealed that Osamu Mukai will star in the five-episode drama series "MR -Medical Representative-" which will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW this fall. The series is based on the novel of the same name by Yo Kusakabe, a practicing physician and author (published by Gentosha Bunko). Mukai will play the protagonist, an MR (Medical Representative) for a mid-sized pharmaceutical company, who is torn between patients, doctors, and the pharmaceutical company, while trying to stick to his belief in putting patients first. The series will be a medical business suspense drama depicting the behind-the-scenes of the pharmaceutical industry and the medical field, as well as the struggles of people who confront life and death.
