"ENGEI Grand Slam," a comedy festival where comedians show off their best material regardless of genre, including manzai, sketches, and solo acts, will be broadcast on Fuji TV's "Saturday Premium" slot (Saturday 9:00 p.m.) on March 8th.
This will be the 24th episode and the first live broadcast in a year since March of last year. The solo comedians who won the "R-1 Grand Prix 2025" (Kansai TV/Fuji TV), the "Japan Solo Comedy Championship," which will be broadcast live from 6:30 pm on the same day, will continue to appear in the "ENGEI Grand Slam" studio and perform their material live.
This time, regulars such as comedy duos Bakusho Mondai, Haraichi, and Rocchi will appear, as well as 2008 M-1 Grand Prix champions NON STYLE, 2020 champions Magical Lovely, and 2024 runner-up Batteries. Time Machine No. 3, a finalist in THE SECOND ~Manzai Tournament~ 2024, King of Conte 2019 champions Doburoku, 2022 runner-up Cotton, and 2024 runner-up Long Coat Daddy will also be taking part.
The highlight will be the appearance of three special units made up of talented comedians. They will be performing their own original skits: "Choconnu," a comedy unit formed by the two groups "Chocolate Planet" and "Sissonne," "Generaisons," a comedy unit made up of the two groups "Geradon" and "Nelsons," and "Metrons," a theater unit made up of the three groups "Shizuru," "Rice," and "Sarugorilla."
Attack Nishimoto (Geradon) of the unit "Generaisons" commented, "I'd be happy if people thought, 'What are they doing?! But they're cute,' (laughs). Seriously speaking, I think 'cuteness' is a weapon that we have that Chokonnu and Metrons don't have. I think the only way to compete with the senior comedy masters is to compete with cuteness."
Fellow Generators' Aoyama Fall Winner (Nelsons) said, "Anyway, I want people to watch it without thinking about anything. At worst, I think you'll still enjoy it even if you watch it without the sound (laughs). In that sense, this skit might be successful overseas too. So, I think this "ENGEI Grand Slam" is a milestone for Generators, but also a starting point for us to expand into the world! (laughs)."
The MCs will be the comedy duo Ninety-Nine (Okamura Takashi and Yabe Hiroyuki) and actor Matsuoka Mayu.
