The visuals for the first solo event "Defense Force Boot Camp in Yokohama" of the anime " Kaiju No. 8 ", based on the popular manga by Naoya Matsumoto currently being serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump +", have been released. The visuals show Kafka Hibino, Mina Ashiro, Reno Ichikawa, Kikoru Shinomiya, Soshiro Hoshina and other members of the Japan Defense Force's 3rd Unit gathered together in military-style casual clothes.
The event will be held at Kannai Hall (Naka Ward, Yokohama City) on June 1st. It will be divided into two parts, day and night, and will feature Masaya Fukunishi as Kafka Hibino/ Kaiju No. 8 , Seto Asami as Mina Ashiro , Wataru Kato Asami Seto as Reno Ichikawa , Fairouz Ai as Kikoru Shinomiya , Kengo Kawanishi as Soshiro Hoshina , Arata Yuki as Furuhashi Iharu, Kawamoto Keisuke as Iharu Furuhashi, and Takeuchi Shunsuke as Kaguragi Aoi.

"Kaiju No. 8" has been serialized in "Shonen Jump+" since July 2020. Set in Japan, a monster superpower where monsters mercilessly invade everyday life, the story follows the adventures of the protagonist, Kafka Hibino, whose body has been transformed into a monster by a mysterious creature. It also attracted attention in 2021 when it was selected as the grand prize winner in the web manga category of the "Next Manga Awards 2021." The comic has sold over 17 million copies in Japan.
The anime will be produced by Production IG, which has worked on the Ghost in the Shell series, and Studio Khara, which has worked on the Rebuild of Evangelion series, will be in charge of monster design and works. The first season of the TV anime will be broadcast from April to June 2024, and it was also a hot topic that it was streamed worldwide in real time on Twitter in conjunction with the TV broadcast.
