It has been announced that Miyakumyaku, the official mascot of the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, which will be held from April 13th, will be animated and broadcast on NHK General TV as the short anime "Hi! It's Miyakumyaku" from March 3rd. Two episodes will be broadcast each day from 11:45pm to 11:49pm from March 3rd to 6th.
"Hello! It's Miyakumiyaku" is a short animation that is reminiscent of a four-frame manga, and it promotes the significance of hosting the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan and the theme of the Expo, "Designing a Future Society for Life." Through the animation, the creators hope to make viewers feel like they want to "have unknown encounters and experiences at the Expo."
The anime has Miyakumyaku as its main character, and features characters Otchan and Naoya. Miyakumyaku, a mysterious creature born 3.5 billion years ago, wanted to talk to someone about life and the future, so he came to the town where Otchan lives... that's the story. Through his six eyes that can see the past and future, he talks with Otchan and Naoya about various things about "a future society where life shines."
