Teruo Nakazono (Ryo Ono), counselor of the Criminal Affairs Department of the Metropolitan Police Department, suddenly disappears. Ukyo (Yutaka Mizutani) and Kaoru (Yasufumi Terawaki) begin to investigate. They learn that Nakazono had recently been looking for a hobby to pursue in retirement.
Then, a video of Nakazono being held captive arrives on Uchimura's smartphone. The perpetrator demands the release of the leader of a video distribution group that aims to arrest private citizens. "Free the man who is being held in pretrial detention for defamation. If you don't, I will kill Nakazono." Nakazono had previously criticized the group in question at a press conference, and it seems the perpetrator committed the crime out of spite.
However, Ukyo considers another possibility and visits the bonsai class Nakazono has started attending. According to the class's director, Eriko Yuki (Nishiyama), Nakazono was popular in the class and had never had any trouble.
However, as the investigation progresses, it becomes clear that there are disturbing rumors between Nakazono and Eriko. Was a late-blooming affair the trigger for the kidnapping? The Special Missions Unit must face the threat of Nakazono's death in the line of duty!
