According to the movie attendance rankings for January 31st to February 2nd (surveyed by Kogyo Tsushinsha) announced on February 3rd, "366 Days" (directed by Shinjo Takehiko), inspired by a hit song by Okinawan band "HY", took the top spot for the first time in its fourth week since release. Every week since its release it has outperformed the previous week, and by the third weekend it had recorded 161% of its opening weekend results. Over the three-day weekend from January 31st to February 2nd, the film was seen by approximately 181,000 people and grossed approximately 225 million yen, bringing the cumulative total to 1.06 million people and 1.3 billion yen.
Among the first-time entries, "Last Will, Public" (directed by Tsutomu Hanabusa), a live-action adaptation of Taro Yodo's popular manga starring Hokuto Yoshino of the dance and vocal group "THE RAMPAGE from EXILE TRIBE," ranked 8th. The new animated film " The Rose of Versailles" (directed by Ai Yoshimura ), based on Riyoko Ikeda 's masterpiece manga, started off in 9th place.
The theatrical pre-release version of "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX" (directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki), which had topped the charts for two consecutive weeks until last week, "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX -Beginning-" came in second, drawing in around 180,000 viewers over the three-day weekend and earning around 271 million yen. Cumulative totals have reached 1.18 million viewers and over 1.9 billion yen in box office revenue. The animated film " Nintama Rantaro Ninja Corps Strongest Strategist" (directed by Masaya Fujimori), which is in its seventh week since its release, ranked third. Over the three-day weekend, it drew in around 141,000 viewers and over 235 million yen in box office revenue. Cumulative totals have reached 1.41 million viewers and over 2 billion yen in box office revenue.
In fourth place was "Cells at Work" (directed by Hideki Takeuchi), which has attracted a total of 4.31 million viewers and grossed over 5.7 billion yen. In tenth place was "Moana 2" (directed by Dave Derrick Jr. and others), which has attracted a total of 3.78 million viewers and grossed over 5 billion yen.
