Taki Kato, who has worked as a coordinator for overseas artists, appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which aired on August 8th, along with her husband, architect and product designer Masayuki Kurokawa.
"I'm 80 years old and my office is celebrating its 50th anniversary. We held a party at a hotel, calling it the '80 & 50 Banquet,'" he said, referring to a party he held in May that attracted 260 people.
At the party, she performed ballroom dancing. "At first I was so embarrassed I couldn't watch," said Kurokawa. She also sang chanson. Kurokawa commented, "She suits these kinds of glittering places best. She doesn't look good at home at all."
Taki's mother, politician Shizue Kato, passed away in 2001 at the age of 104. Footage of her appearing on the program at the age of 100 was shown, and Taki said, "I never imagined there would be so many things I would only learn at the age of 100. She passed away at the ripe old age of 104, but she continued to grow until the very end."
