Singer Yutaka Yamakawa will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on January 24th at 1pm. Yamakawa, who was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer after a detailed examination at the end of 2023, will talk about his battle with the disease.
As surgery was not an option, she opted for chemotherapy, but the side effects, such as rashes all over her body, were more difficult than she had anticipated. She got divorced three years ago and now lives alone. There are many inconveniences, so her eldest son and daughter come to help her. She has resumed her singing career even while fighting the disease, and wants to continue singing for her fans for as long as possible.
Yamakawa's mother was a female diver who continued diving until she was 70 years old, but she developed dementia in her later years and her father looked after her. Her father has just turned 100 and is still in good health.
