The Sunday Theatre drama " Mikami Sensei " (TBS, Sundays 9pm) starring actor Tori Matsuzaka will begin airing on January 19th, and will feature a relay introduction of the 29 unique students in class 2, year 3, of Rintoku Gakuen, where Mikami (Matsuzaka) is the homeroom teacher, in order of their attendance numbers. The fifth installment will feature an introduction of the five students with attendance numbers 25 to 29, along with their own comments. Student introduction videos are also available on the drama's official SNS.
The cast members we will be introducing this time are Nao Haruyama (played by Nako Yabuki), Ryuichiro Fuyuki (played by Koki Yamashita), Ryo Miyazawa (played by Yudai Toyoda), Wataru Muraoka (played by Kento Yamada), and Kakeru Wakui (played by Omi Natsuki).
" Mikami Sensei" is about a Ministry of Education bureaucrat, Takashi Mikami (Matsuzaka), who wants to change the Japanese education system, who is ordered to transfer to a private high school, Rintoku Gakuin. In reality, it was a demotion given to an elite bureaucrat, but Mikami can't change the system even if he is on the side that creates it, so he takes the podium himself, saying that he should raise his voice from the field and destroy the system from within, and he stands up to authority while guiding an 18-year-old high school student living in the Reiwa era... This is a "great reversal education revival story."
This is a completely original school drama, and Shimori Roba, who will be teaming up with Matsuzaka for the first time since the movie "The Journalist," will be in charge of the script for the first time in a prime-time drama series. Kazutaka Iida, who has been in charge of the popular Sunday Theater series such as "Anti-Hero" (2024) and "VIVANT" (2023), will serve as producer.
