On December 25th, singing scenes from the new animated film " The Rose of Versailles" (directed by Ai Yoshimura , scheduled for release on January 31, 2025), based on the masterpiece manga by Riyoko Ikeda , were released on YouTube. The film uses 15 insert songs by music producer Hiroyuki Sawano , and a part of the singing scene from "The Rose of Versailles" was unveiled. Miyuki Sawashiro , who plays Oscar , Aya Hirano , who plays Marie Antoinette , Toshiyuki Toyonaga, who plays Andre, and Kazuki Kato , who plays Fersen, sing the feelings of each character, such as "Live through love even in destiny" and "With a burningly fragrant passion."
Sawano, who served as music producer, commented, "In addition to the songs sung by the cast in the film, we also produced songs featuring choruses and rock songs with English lyrics as insert songs. We hope you enjoy the difference in the sound approach used by the vocals in the film."
KOHTA YAMAMOTO, who was mainly in charge of producing the soundtrack, said, "This work not only uses the latest animation technology, but also has the modern entertainment value of a work to be released in 2025, with musical direction that makes use of many of Sawano's insert songs. For that reason, I thought I could express a modern version of The Rose of Versailles by incorporating a modern approach to the soundtrack in action scenes, which are one of the highlights of the work. On the other hand, in scenes that express the characters' feelings, I tried to balance it with the worldview of the work by using a classical approach using live instruments."
The CD "Song Collection from The Rose of Versailles" and "The Rose of Versailles Original Soundtrack", which include insert songs such as "The Rose of Versailles", will be released simultaneously on February 26, 2025.
In commemoration of Oscar's birthday on December 25th, five new cuts of Oscar were also released. They depict Oscar with a dignified and beautiful gaze, living according to his own beliefs.
"The Rose of Versailles" is a manga masterpiece by Ikeda that was serialized in "Weekly Margaret" (Shueisha) from 1972 to 1973. It is set during the French Revolution in the late 18th century and beautifully depicts the love and life of Oscar, a beautiful Oscar as a man, and Marie Antoinette, an innocent queen who came to France from neighboring Austria.
The movie will be directed by Yoshimura, known for "Ao Haru Ride" and "Cheer Boys!!" Sawano, known for "Attack on Titan," will serve as music producer, and Sawano and KOHTA YAMAMOTO will be in charge of the music. It will be produced by MAPPA, known for "Jujutsu Kaisen" and "Chainsaw Man."
