To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the broadcast of "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX," the second installment of the popular anime "Yu-Gi-Oh!" series, it has been announced that a remastered version, "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX 20th Remaster," will be broadcast on TV Tokyo from April 2025. The series was broadcast for about three and a half years from 2004, and will be "revived" to mark the 20th anniversary of its broadcast.
KENN, who plays Yuki Judai, commented, "Thanks to all of you who support me, I've been able to consistently record as Yuki Judai for about half my life. That was a fun duel!!"
"Duel Monsters has been built up by Yugi Muto and his team. I hope you enjoy the world of GX, which has a different charm from the original and is full of laughter, tears and variety," he said in the message.
"Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX" is set in Duel Academy, an academy that trains talented duelists. The main character, Judai Yuki, loves dueling more than anyone else and has the mysterious power to see the spirits that reside in cards, and clashes with various rivals. Through duels, he solves various difficult cases that occur at the Academy. In addition to KENN as Judai Yuki, Kobayashi Sanae as Tenjouin Asuka, Suzuki Manami as Marufuji Sho, Matsuno Taiki as Banjome Jun, and Akira Ishida as Ed Phoenix also appeared.
It was also announced that a special program for the eighth series, "Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush!!," currently airing, entitled "A Yu-Gi-Oh!-loving comedian's path to becoming a voice actor," will be broadcast on TV Tokyo at 7:30 a.m. on January 5, 2025. Kenshi Miyashita of the comedy duo Miyashita Kusanagi, known as a comedian who loves "Yu Yu-Gi-Oh!", will sneak into the dubbing studio. He will try his hand at dubbing while receiving acting guidance from Arthur Lounsbery, who plays the main character, Eudius Belgian.
"Yu-Gi-Oh!" is a popular manga by Takahashi Kazuki that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from September 1996 to March 2004. A TV anime series began in 2000. The eighth series, "Yu-Gi-Oh! Go-Rush!!," has been airing on TV Tokyo affiliates every Sunday at 7:30 a.m. since April 2022.
