It has been announced that singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu will be appearing on the 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, which will be broadcast on New Year's Eve.
Yonezu will be performing the theme song "Sayonara Mata Itsuka!" for the TV drama "The Tiger and Her Wings" in the first half of 2024. This will be his first appearance at the Kohaku Uta Gassen in six years since 2018.
The 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen will be broadcast on December 31st from 7:20pm to 11:45pm (with some news breaks). Hiroiki Ariyoshi, Kanna Hashimoto, Sari Ito, and announcer Naoko Suzuki will be the hosts.

"The Tiger and Her Wings" is an absolutely wonderful drama that is worthy of being performed in the special setting of the Kohaku Uta Gassen, and I felt that my appearance could help make a difference, so I decided to take part in the Kohaku Uta Gassen.
In addition, next year will be the 100th anniversary of NHK's broadcasting, and although it is a strange coincidence, "Sayonara Mata Itsuka!" is also a song that makes me think of the past 100 years. I am honored to be able to join in the act of celebrating the 100th anniversary, even if only for a moment. I hope that the next 100 years will be a world where no one living there will be left behind.
