The TV Asahi drama series "Boku no Azatoi Motokano (My Cunning Ex-Girlfriend)" (Fridays at 11:15 p.m., excluding some regions), which begins filming on January 24, 2025, has begun with the triple lead roles played by Naniwa Danshi's Joichiro Fujiwara, Hinatazaka46's Shiho Kato, and Maria Tani.
Fujiwara, who plays "Pride Everest Man" Sakashita Takumi, commented, "The character of 'Pride Everest Man' is the complete opposite of me, so it's a lot of fun playing him. When I get to the set, there are a lot of new things I learn that are different from the script, so I feel like I'm learning about being 'cunning' myself!"
Kato, who plays the "sly girl" Sonoda Mei, said, "She is the complete opposite of me, to the point that even the members of Hinatazaka46 have said, 'I've never seen you so cunning'. So I'm having a hard time acting out Mei's cunning "tricks," and I was even practicing finger rubbing yesterday (laughs)." She added, "I'd like to communicate more and more with Fujiwara-san and Tani-san as we continue filming."
Tani, who plays Okuyama Asahi, a "mentally tough career woman," said, "I have a lot of scenes with Fujiwara at the moment, and even on set we talk about what "cunning" means, and we discuss the difference between Asahi and Mei's cunningness, and we study what cunningness is (laughs)."
The drama is a fusion of TV Asahi's popular variety show "What's Wrong with Being Awkward?" (Thursdays at 12:45am, excluding some regions) and the traditional Friday Night Drama slot that has been running since 2000. The hosts of "What's Wrong with Being Awkward?", Ryota Yamazato and Airi Suzuki, will comment on the story and lines from the viewers' perspective, a first for Friday Night Dramas, and the show will also teach viewers "how to love."
