It has been revealed that "With the Phoenix," a drama in which Zhao Liying and Kenny Lin, who played a couple in the popular Chinese drama "The Legend of Chu Qiao," reunite, will be broadcast and streamed exclusively in Japan for the first time on WOWOW.
"With Phoenix" is a large-scale fantasy historical drama that has been popular, having been ranked number one 21 times on the popular drama rankings of China's largest SNS "WEIBO". It depicts the love between the protagonist Shen Li, played by Chao, an unrivaled war god who carves out his own destiny, and a sickly clerk living in the human world and an ancient god living in the fairy world, played by Lin.
Two episodes will be broadcast every Wednesday at 8pm starting February 12, 2025. An archived version will be available on WOWOW On Demand.
◇Synopsis
A world where three realms exist: the immortal realm, the spirit realm, and the human realm. The spirit realm has been invaded by evil spirits for many years, threatening the lives of the people. In order to appease the spirit realm, a marriage proposal is made between Shen Li (Zhao Liying), a war god in the spirit realm who possesses the powers of a phoenix, and He Yu, the grandson of Heavenly Lord in the immortal realm. However, Shen Li refuses and runs away. She is injured during this marriage and falls to the human realm in the form of a phoenix chick. In the human realm, Shen is saved by a clerk named Xing Yun (Kenny Lin). He has a mysterious power, such as being able to understand the words of the phoenix Shen Li, who cannot speak human language. Eventually, Shen Li regains her war god form and helps the sickly Xing Yun in return. The two spend a peaceful time together and begin to like each other, but when Shen Li saves Xing Yun's life from a life-threatening condition, the spirit realm learns of her location.
