It was revealed on December 12th that an official spin-off anime, "Rascal the Raccoon," based on the classic anime "Rascal the Raccoon" that was broadcast in 1977, titled "Rascal the Raccoon: Karukarudan," will be produced and broadcast in 2025. It will be produced as a commemorative project for the 50th anniversary of Nippon Animation, the company behind "Rascal the Raccoon."
A teaser visual was released, depicting a raccoon resembling Rascal wearing a space suit and gazing at the Earth from space. The visual is accompanied by the meaningful copy, "Half a century after the timeless masterpiece, they are coming to Earth." It was also announced that a star-studded cast of voice actors including Junya Junya Enoki, Kensho Ono, Kensho Ono, Yohei Azagami, and Kenjiro Tsuda will appear in the film. Details of the characters will be announced on the official SNS in due course.

"Rascal the Raccoon" is based on the novel "Harukanaru My Rascal" by Sterling North. It was broadcast in 1977 as the third installment of the "World Masterpiece Theater" series. Set in Wisconsin, the story depicts the year that the main character, a young boy named Sterling, and the raccoon Rascal spent together.
