It has been revealed that popular voice actor Koki Uchiyama will be providing a voice role in the film "Showtime Seven" (directed by Kazutaka Watanabe, scheduled for release on February 7, 2025), starring actor Hiroshi Abe. It had already been announced that Uchiyama would be appearing in the film, but it has now been revealed that he will be voicing Kaneko, an important character who is at the mercy of the criminal's unreasonable demands. Behind-the-scenes photos of the recording session have also been released.
Uchiyama commented, "It's not often that you get the opportunity to participate in a live-action film as a voice actor, so I was very grateful for the offer. I've worked with Director Watanabe before on other projects, so I was happy to be able to work with him again this time. The story keeps up its momentum from the beginning and races non-stop all the way to the end, so I was drawn in without having time to catch my breath. Also, the structure of the film, in which a live broadcast of a program within the film continues throughout, was unique and fascinating. I hope you'll look forward to seeing how I'll be providing a voice role. Like the other characters, I'll be at the mercy of the criminal's demands."
An interlude video narrated by Uchiyama was also released on YouTube. The video focuses on the key to unlocking the "trap set by the criminal," in which only a voice can be heard, and Uchiyama's narration introduces three key points about the protagonist, Orimoto Shinnosuke, played by Abe, who was chosen by the bomber: "The reason he was nominated," "The bomb that was planted," and "Orimoto's suspicions."
To commemorate the release of the movie, Seven Net has started selling the "Movie 'Showtime Seven' Extreme Live Broadcast Studio! / Acrylic Diorama Stand" as a limited edition item. The acrylic diorama stand faithfully reproduces the tense climax where Orimoto confronts the culprit, and this is the first time that Abe's acrylic diorama stand has been produced.
