It has been announced that the ULTRA HD version of the animated film "Perfect Blue," directed by the late Kon Satoshi, will be released on Blu-ray Disc (BD) on February 28th, the same day the film is released in theaters.
The ULTRA HD BD and the 2-disc deluxe edition of the BD will come with special bonuses, including a 35mm raw film frame of the main character Mima Kirigoshi from the 35mm film used in the screening, a booklet containing the Perfect Blue Senki extra edition, and a postcard set. The 2-disc deluxe edition will be priced at 11,800 yen, while the regular edition will be priced at 6,800 yen (both excluding tax).
The film is based on a novel by Yoshikazu Takeuchi. The story revolves around Mima Kirigoshi, who suddenly leaves a popular idol group to try to become an actress, and a series of murders occur in which people related to her are the victims. This is Ima's first animated feature film as a director, and it was produced by Madhouse.
The cast included Junko Iwao, Rika Matsumoto, Shinpachi Tsuji, Masaaki Okura, Emiko Furukawa, and Shiho Niyama.
