On December 10th, model maker Tamiya updated their official Twitter account to pay tribute to freelance announcer Tomoaki Ogura, who passed away at the age of 77.
"We offer our deepest condolences to Mr. Ogura Tomoaki," he began, "Mr. Ogura served as the narrator for TV Tokyo's 'Tamiya RC Car Grand Prix' for a long 10 years, from 1984 to 1994. Thank you, Mr. Ogura!" he continued, expressing his gratitude. He attached a flyer from the time, a photo of the cover of the program's theme song sung by Noriko Hidaka, and an image of the current Tamiya Circuit.
Ogura was born on May 25, 1947 in Akita Prefecture. He joined Tokyo 12 Channel (now TV Tokyo) and became a freelancer in 1976. From April 1999, he served as the MC for Fuji TV's morning information program "Information Presenter Tokudane!" for 22 years.
