The seventh episode of the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Diamonds Sleeping in the Sea" (Sunday 9:00 pm), starring actor Ryunosuke Kamiki, was broadcast on December 8th. The title of the show has caught the attention of viewers, with some on social media asking, "Does this mean they're paying off the title...?"

A gas explosion caused a fire inside the mine. The miners and staff worked hard to put out the fire, but it did not go out. The mine manager, Tatsuo (played by Sawamura Ikki), decided that it was impossible to put out the fire and ordered all miners to evacuate the mine. He announced on a radio broadcast to the islanders that the deeper areas where the fire was still burning would be submerged and abandoned as soon as the miners had evacuated.
"Coal was our property, our livelihood. But our real property is all of you who live and work here," Tatsuo said. He paid tribute to all the people who work on the mining island of Hashima, and made a powerful statement saying, "As long as you are all alive, the light of this island will not go out!"
Afterwards, Shinpei (Saito Takumi) in the mine tries to retreat, but he starts hallucinating after inhaling carbon monoxide. He sees his deceased wife Eiko (Sato Megumi), but when he realizes he is hallucinating, he calls out the names of Rina (Ikeda Elaiza) and Makoto, but collapses on the spot.
On social media, people were saying things like, "Oh, so they're going to recover the title...?", "I didn't know that recovering the title could be so painful", "The overwhelming pain of recovering the title", "So episode 7 is the first title recovery of the diamond hidden in the sea...", "They're going to submerge it in seawater, and recover the title", "I'm slowly starting to understand the true meaning of the title. There are surely many things submerged in that sea", and "I've been thinking that there may be several meanings behind the title other than the Hashima coal mine, and one of them could be a reference to Big Bro Shinpei."
As the subtitle of episode 8 is "Diamond," comments spread on social media such as, "This might mean that we'll find out what the diamonds sleeping in the sea are in the next episode," and "What exactly does the next title, diamonds, refer to... Does it mean that Susumu's brother is sleeping in the sea? Stop it!"
