"Anime Week" brings you a summary of the week's anime news. From December 1st to 7th, news of the new Gundam series being produced and the appearance of Majin Ku in Dragon Ball Daima were all in the spotlight.
On the 1st, it was announced that the popular indie game "Gnosia" by the game development group "Petit Depot" will be made into a TV anime in 2025. The anime's teaser visual and a commemorative illustration drawn by Kotori, who is in charge of the illustrations for the original game, were also released. Details of the anime will be announced in the future.
On the 2nd, it was revealed that voice actor Okiayu Ryutaro will be playing the main character Nube, also known as Nueno Meisuke, in the new anime adaptation of the popular manga series "Hell Teacher Nube," which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha). Okiayu played Nube in the TV anime, movie anime, and OVA (original video animation) that aired from 1996 to 1997, and will be reprising his role in the new adaptation. It was also announced that the anime will air on TV Asahi in the summer of 2025. Studio KAI will be producing the anime.
On the 2nd, it was announced that the Blu-ray Disc (BD) box "Choujuukishin Dancouga 40th Anniversary Blu-ray Box" commemorating the 40th anniversary of the TV anime "Choujuukishin Dancouga" broadcast in 1985 will be released on March 26, 2025. In addition to all 38 episodes of the TV series, it will include the OVA (original video animation) "Requiem for the Lost Ones", the OVA "GOD BLESS DANCOUGA", the OVA "Incandescent Final Chapter", and the video clip collection OVA "Juusenkitai SONGS". Masami Ohbari will be doing the box illustrations, while Kazuko Tadano, Takahiro Yamada, and Hirotoshi Sano will be drawing the inner jacket.
On the 3rd, the new song "Sukitchan! Karachu", the first new song in about two years for the anime "Zombie Land Saga", which has the theme of zombies x Saga x idols x comedy, was released. This collaborative song was created at the request of Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, where the anime is set, and is a new song by the idol group "Franchouchou".
On the 4th, it was revealed that the latest work in the popular anime series "Gundam", "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX", will be produced. It will be produced by Sunrise and khara, known for the "Evangelion" series. This is the first time that Sunrise and khara have teamed up, with Kazuya Tsurumaki as director, Yoji Enokido as series composer, and Ikuto Yamashita as mechanical designer. The main character is a high school girl named Amate Yuzuriha (Machu). The TV anime series will be broadcast on the Nippon Television network, and ahead of the broadcast, "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX -Beginning-", a reconstructed version of some episodes, will be screened at 373 theaters nationwide from January 17, 2025.
On the 4th, it was announced that the 28th and latest film in the popular anime series "Detective Conan", "Detective Conan: Afterimage of the One-Eyed", will be produced and released on April 18, 2025.
On the 5th, it was revealed that the popular light novel comic adaptation "Hell Mode: A Gamer Who Loves to Play Through the Game Becomes Unrivaled in an Abandoned World," which is published on the novel submission site "Let's Become a Novelist" and other sites, will be made into a TV anime.
On the 6th, an illustration of the special storage box for the Blu-ray Disc (BD) "Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? 4K Remaster Set (4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray & Blu-rayDisc)," a 4K remaster of the popular anime series "Macross" movie "Do You Remember Love?", was released. Character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto created the illustration. The video bonus will include the upconverted version of "Angel's Paint" from "Flash Back 2012," which is said to be the phantom ending.
On the 6th, it was announced that the manga "Game Center Girl and Intercultural Exchange," currently being serialized on the web service "Dora Dora Sharp #" (KADOKAWA), will be adapted into a TV anime and will begin airing in July 2025. Amagi Sally will play Lily Baker, a 13-year-old girl who moved from the UK, and Chiba Shoya will play Kusakabe Renji, who works part-time at a game center. Kikuchi Satoshi will be the director, and Nomad will be producing the anime.
On the 6th, the 9th episode of the completely new series "Dragon Ball DAIMA", an anime based on the popular manga by the late Akira Toriyama, "Dragon Ball", was broadcast on Fuji TV, and at the end, a new character, Majin Kuu, appeared. It was revealed that the demon was born from the research of Dr. Arinth and the great witch Marva, and is played by Tomokazu Seki.
On the 7th, it was revealed that several new works are currently in production for the popular anime series "Code Geass," which will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026. Details will be announced in the future.
