Singer Judy Ongg will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on November 18th at 1pm.
In the January episode, she appeared on the show with Nakamura Meiko as "the mother and daughter of the entertainment industry." The recording took place in December last year, but Meiko suddenly passed away six days later. It was so sudden that it was sad, but she recalls that it was fun to meet her for the first time in a long time and chat at the recording. She was on friendly terms with Meiko's family, and when she visited her husband, Kozu Yoshiyuki's, home, she revealed that she was very surprised to see Meiko's room, which was like a dollhouse.
Her mother is 97 years old and lives in her hometown of Taiwan. She went to a Japanese girls' school, so she is good at Japanese and loves Japanese songs. When she asked her mother if she could sing her hit song "Mesmerized," her face suddenly turned grim and she refused. When the song became a hit, Judy was so busy that she was often in poor health, and her mother says that it reminds her of that time, so she thinks "that song is for work only."
