The fifth episode of the drama series "The Travel Nurse" (TV Asahi, Thursdays 9pm), starring actor Okada Masaki, will air on November 14th. Danta Yasunori will guest star.
Gomi Takehisa (Danda), a classmate of super nurse Shizu (Nakai Kiichi) who knew her from her childhood, suffers from cancer and is coincidentally hospitalized at Nishitokyo General Hospital where Shizu is. From the first day of hospitalization, Gomi is abusive to the point that even Ayumu (Okada) is astonished. He insults his subordinate Chatani Keisuke (Nakajima Hiroki) who has come to deliver his personal belongings, and disrespectfully turns away nurses Kanaya Yoshiko (Adachi Yumi) and Nakamura Yuzuko (Morita Nozomi) who try to take his temperature.
Yoshiko gives strict instructions to Yuzuko, who is always complaining despite being a new recruit. Ayumu and others try their best to calm the two, who are on edge every day. However, Yuzu finally explodes with frustration and complains to the head of the nursing department, Aikawa Touko (Terajima Shinobu), that "this is complete power harassment." Touko shows understanding for Yoshiko's professionalism, but warns her.
Just then, Gomi's condition suddenly worsens and he is no longer suitable for surgery, making him even more emotionally unstable. Yuzu loses her temper at his tyranny and, despite not being a doctor, tells him how much time he has left to live. Yoshiko slaps Yuzu.
When the hospital director, Yakushimaru Taku (Yamazaki Ikusaburo), finds out about this, he suggests to Touko that Yoshiko be fired. Shizuka tries her best to sympathize with Gomi as he nears his end, but...
The screenplay is by Nakazono Miho, known for the "Doctor-X: Surgeon Daimon Michiko" series, and is a sequel to the same-named series that aired in October 2022. The quirky duo of Nasuda Ayumu, a qualified nurse practitioner who can perform certain medical procedures, and "super nurse" Kuki Shizuka will reform the medical field by putting patients first.
