It has been announced that a crowdfunding project is being launched to create a new song and music video (MV) for the popular "Suzumiya Haruhi" light novel series by Nagaru Tanigawa, published by Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko (KADOKAWA). The new song will be sung by Haruhi Suzumiya, Mikuru Asahina, Yuki Nagato and others, and will be produced by a reunion of the "legendary creators" behind classics such as "Hare Hare Yukai" and "God knows...". It was also announced that an original voice drama featuring the entire cast of the SOS Brigade will be produced as a reward for the crowdfunding. The new song and MV will be produced to commemorate the worldwide simultaneous release of the latest work in the series, "The Haruhi Suzumiya Theater" on November 29th. Haruhi Suzumiya, who serves as the project's general director, commented, "I'm so glad you're interested in this project! There's a lot to look forward to! On November 29th of this year, the long-awaited new book, "The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya," will be released all over the world! So, I decided to write a new song to really promote the release of the new book! I also got the cooperation of the light music club, who Yuki and I filled in for during the school festival. I'm even going to make a music video! It's definitely going to be the best song ever!" The crowdfunding period is from November 15th to January 15th, 2025.

The "Haruhi Suzumiya" series is a story about Haruhi Suzumiya, a high school girl who loves aliens, people from the future, psychics, and paranormal phenomena, and her ordinary high school boy Kyon, who get caught up in a series of strange events that occur one after another around them.

The first volume, "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya," was published in 2003, and has since sold over 20 million copies. An anime series was broadcast on TV in 2006 and 2009, and the movie version, "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya," was released in 2010.
