It has been revealed that season 2 of "Akinai Seiden Gold and Silver," a NHK BS period drama starring actor Fuka Koshiba, which was broadcast in 2023, will be broadcast on NHK BS and BS Premium 4K in spring 2025.
"Akinai Seiden Gold and Silver" is set in the mid-Edo period and depicts the lives of ordinary people who work hard and use their ingenuity to succeed in business, while incorporating a variety of customs, in a bright and lively manner. In season 1, the main character Sachi (Koshiba) marries Chizo (Matsumoto Reo), the sixth-generation owner of Gosuzuya, and they begin selling "Hamahabutae" from New Year's as a desperate plan to revive the struggling Gosuzuya.
Season 2 begins immediately after season 1, and Masumi (Yamanishi Jun) appears, who finds fault with the hugely successful "Hamahabutae," saying, "My clerk embezzled the money." Sachi and Chizou also expand the store, achieving the dream of the previous Gosuzuya owner to open a shop in Edo, but sad events strike Sachi again and again. There are eight episodes planned.
Koshiba commented, "Over the past year, so many people have told me they want to see more. There are so many people waiting for this series. I'm really happy that we can deliver season 2 to them like this," and called on everyone at Gosuzuya to look forward to Sachi using all her wisdom to make her way forward, with the motto of "The happiness of buying, the happiness of selling."
Mutsumi Yamamoto will continue to be in charge of the script from the previous season. Nagasawa Itsuki, Asakura Aki, Ishino Yoko, Naito Risa, Yashima Norito, and Tachi Hiroshi will continue to appear in their roles, and Izumisawa Yuki will be joining the cast.
