The making-of video for "Linda Linda Linda 4K" (released August 22nd), a 4K digital remaster of the 2005 coming-of-age film "Linda Linda Linda" (directed by Yamashita Nobuhiro), starring Bae Doona, Maeda Aki, Kashii Yu, and Sekine Shiori from "Base Ball Bear," has been released.
The film depicts the struggles of a group of girls who end up performing as a cover band of The Blue Hearts at the final cultural festival of their high school life.
The video was edited to 2 minutes and 50 seconds by photographer and filmmaker Kobayashi Mitsuhiro, who has stated that he has been greatly influenced by "Linda Linda Linda." It begins with a close-up of the innocent expressions of Bae Doona, Maeda, Kashii, and Sekine during filming 20 years ago, and is chock-full of innocent scenes of the four, including sliding down stairs, kicking a ball in the schoolyard, and frolicking on the rooftop. The footage has a handmade feel, as if it were a snapshot of the "real school life" of real high school students.
"Linda Linda Linda 4K" will be released nationwide from August 22nd at Shinjuku Piccadilly, Shibuya Cine Quinto, and other cinemas.
