It has been announced that a new work, "Moyashimon+", based on Ishikawa Masayuki's popular manga "Moyashimon", which has also been adapted into a TV anime and a live-action drama, will begin serialization in the January 2025 issue of the manga magazine "Afternoon", to be released on November 25th. The new series will begin with the spring festival at the end of the final episode of "Moyashimon".
"Moyashimon" is a manga that depicts the university life of Sawaki Soemon Naoyasu, the second son of a bean sprout (seed koji) shop owner and a student at the University of Agriculture who can see and talk to bacteria, and his unique friends at the university, and its cute, personified bacteria became popular. It was serialized in "Evening" and "Monthly Morning Two" (same publisher) from 2004 to 2014. It was adapted into a TV anime twice, in 2007 and 2012, on Fuji TV's late-night anime slot "Noitamina", and in 2010 it was made into a live-action drama starring actor Nakamura Yuichi.
The December issue of Afternoon, released on October 25th, contained a special one-shot story depicting a day before Sawaki and his friends enter school.
The editor-in-chief of Afternoon commented, "Afternoon is the only place you can read the new Moyashimon + (Plus)! Welcome!! I'm happy to see them all again!"
