It has been revealed that Okarun (Takakura Ken), a character from the TV anime "Dandadan," based on the popular manga by Ryu Yukinobu that is currently being serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+," will grace the cover of the special edition of issue 2420 of the women's magazine "anan" (Magazine House), which goes on sale on October 30th. The cover is a new drawing, depicting Okarun "transformed" and exuding an evil and decadent aura.
The issue features a special on "Dandadan." It includes a conversation between Wakayama Shion, who plays Momo (Ayase Momo), and Hanae Natsuki, who plays Okarun, as well as an interview with Mizuki Nana, who plays Momo's grandmother, Hoshiko. The hip-hop unit "Creepy Nuts," who perform the opening theme "Otonoke," also appears and talks about the behind-the-scenes story of how the song was written. It also includes an interview with Ryu, the original author, and Yamashiro Fuuga, the director of the anime, talking about the attention to detail that went into the production.
"Dandadan" began serialization in "Shonen Jump+" in April 2021. It depicts Momo, a high school girl from a family of spiritualists, and her classmate Okarun, an occult fanatic, as they confront the mysterious happenings that appear one after another. The comic has sold over 4 million copies in total. The TV anime is currently airing on the late-night anime slot "Super Animeism TURBO" on MBS and TBS.
