The "Macross: Do You Remember Love?" exhibition, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the release of the popular anime "Macross" movie, will be held at Marui City Yokohama (Nishi-ku, Yokohama) from October 25th. Valuable materials from the production of the movie, such as the initial composition plan and mecha settings, as well as illustrations by character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto will be on display. The exhibition will run until November 10th.
The initial composition plan by Shoji Kawamori reconstructed a new story based on the TV series. In addition to mecha settings by Kazutaka Miyatake and Kawamori, art settings and backgrounds by Studio Nue and others, and character settings by Mikimoto, storyboards and original drawings will also be on display.
Illustrations drawn by Mikimoto will also be on display. Illustrations from the release, record jackets, video software, and illustrations for bonuses will all be gathered together. A life-size figure of Lynn Minmay, approximately 160 cm tall, will also be on display.
A signing session with Mikimoto will be held on November 2nd. Participation tickets will be distributed to those who purchase products worth 5,000 yen or more at the sales corner in the venue, including art cards with original illustrations. The number of participants is 50.
"Macross: Do You Remember Love?" is a movie version that reinterprets the TV anime "Super Dimension Fortress Macross" that aired from 1982 to 1983, and was released on July 21, 1984. The mecha action that unfolds along with Lynn Minmay's famous song "Do You Remember Love?" is known as one of the most famous scenes in the "Macross" series. To commemorate the 40th anniversary, it will be remastered in 4K. The 4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray Disc (BD) and BD will be released on January 29, 2025, and the 4K remastered version will be screened in theaters from January 25, 2025.
