An intermission clip from the new theatrical version of the popular anime series "Nintama Rantaro" titled "Nintama Rantaro the Movie: Dokutake Ninja Corps Strongest Strategist" was released on YouTube on October 24th. Narrated by Takayama Minami, who plays Rantaro, the clip introduces the characters of the Ninjutsu Academy. It is intended as a preview before the release of the new film.
The clip begins with the caption "If you remember these characters, you'll be able to enjoy the Nintama movies!", and features Rantaro, Kirimaru, and Shinbei from the first year class of the Ninjutsu Academy. Also seen are Doi Hansuke, a key figure who holds the key to the new film and teacher in charge of first year class subjects, Yamada Denzo, a teacher in charge of practical skills, and Morozumi Sonnamon of the Tasogaredoki Ninja Corps, who views Doi as a rival and continues to challenge Doi to a duel in the new film.
"Dokutake Ninja Corps Strongest Strategist" is the first animated film of "Nintama Rantaro" in about 13 years since "Nintama Rantaro the Movie: Ninjutsu Academy All Out! No Dan" was released in 2011. It is the first film adaptation of the novel "Novel: Failed Ninja Rantaro: Dokutake Ninja Corps Strongest Strategist" based on the original manga "Failed Ninja Rantaro" by Amako Soubei. After facing a duel challenged by Tasogaredoki ninja Moroizumi Sonnamon, Doi-sensei goes missing, and while Yamada-sensei and the sixth graders of Ninjutsu Academy search for Doi-sensei, a white darkness creeps into the school... This is the story.
The director is Fujimori Masaya, who worked on the previous film, and it will be produced by Asiado, just like the TV series. The screenplay will be written by Sakaguchi Kazuhisa, who is the screenwriter for the TV series and the author of the original novel. It will be released on December 20th.
"Nintama Rantaro" is based on Amako's manga "Rantaro the Failed Ninja." It is a slapstick comedy about a group of aspiring ninjas who enroll in a ninja academy with the goal of becoming top ninjas. The original story began serialization in the Asahi Elementary School Newspaper in April 1986. It came to an end in October 2019 after 33 years of serialization. The TV anime began airing in 1993. The 32nd series is currently airing on NHK Educational TV every Monday to Friday from 6:50 pm.
