The program "NHK MUSIC SPECIAL Mariya Takeuchi Music & Life - Doors of Life" featuring singer-songwriter Mariya Takeuchi will be broadcast on NHK General TV from 10pm on October 24th. The program features a three-hour long interview, revealing Takeuchi's cherished way of being an artist and her thoughts on music that have remained unchanged for 45 years.
In the program, Takeuchi returns to her hometown, Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, where she began. At Izumo Taisha Shrine, which she says she spent her time at like the backyard of her own home, she shares memories of her father, who she says had a major impact on her life, as well as stories of her tomboyish childhood. At her alma mater, Taisha High School, she is reunited with her high school teacher. At one point, she is moved to tears by the words of her teacher, who supported her study abroad in the United States, which was a major turning point in her life.
Also appearing are special guests who love Takeuchi. Mao Daichi, who is a close friend of Takeuchi, Matsuko Deluxe, Erika Ikuta, who participated in the chorus of her latest song "Songs to Give," and Hayato Kadono, a world-renowned pianist who was captivated by her classic song "Plastic Love," will talk about the charms of Takeuchi. Many of her classic songs will also be introduced, including music videos and live footage.
