NHK's history program "Rekishi Detective" (General) will air "The Japanese and Rice: 2000 Years of Secrets" from 10pm on October 23rd. Hashimoto Kanna, star of the morning drama series "Omusubi", will also appear and talk about her love for rice.
The program will investigate the history of rice, the soul food of the Japanese. During the Yayoi period, rice cultivation became popular. The Japanese had already devised a way to cook delicious rice. During the Kofun period, rice faced its greatest crisis. How did ancient people overcome the crisis of bad cooking?
The reason why rice became so delicious will be revealed.
