The new season of the popular detective drama "Aibou Season 24" (TV Asahi, Wednesdays at 9pm), starring Yutaka Mizutani and Yasufumi Terawaki, will begin on October 15th. The first episode will be 15 minutes longer and will be subtitled "Atone for it with death." Guests include Tsurutaro Kataoka and Kimiko Yo.
Special Investigation Unit members Ukyo Sugishita (Mizutani) and Kaoru Kameyama (Terawaki) are approaching a famous storyteller family through their own channels. At the request of journalist Keiko Nonomiya (Naomi Hosokawa), an acquaintance of Kaoru's wife Miwako (Suzuki Sawa), they have secretly begun a reinvestigation of a case in which the death penalty had been finalized.
Approximately 15 years ago, Hajime Tanoi (Takuma Sugawara), a former disciple of the storyteller Seiryu Takizawa (Kataoka), who had been excommunicated, murdered Seiryu's son, Otohiko (Shunsuke Maeda), at his mansion. Tanoi was charged with robbery and murder and sentenced to death by the Supreme Court five years ago. He admitted to breaking into the house to steal, but denied murder. If it was a false accusation, suspicion falls on Seiryu, who was living at the mansion at the time, as well as his wife Misako (Satomi Achiha), daughter Seiran (Harumi Shuhama), and disciple Goryu (Takaya Aoyagi).
Seeking the truth, Kaoru infiltrates Seiran's culture school. Ukyo, who "really wants to see the crime scene," conceals his identity as a detective and infiltrates the mansion as an apprentice to Seiryu, who became a Living National Treasure through his fierce attacks, night and morning.
Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Department, Kinugasa Toji (Sugimoto Tetta), who has become aware of the Special Missions Unit's movements, fears that a false accusation will be discovered and reports the situation to Prosecutor General Garyuoka Utako (Yo). Meanwhile, Ukyo takes a surprising action to uncover the truth.
The script was written by Yasuhiro Koshimizu and the director was Hajime Hashimoto.
