It has been announced that "Geinin Cannonball," a spectacular scavenger hunt between comedians, will be making a comeback after nine years. The show will be titled "Geinin Cannonball 2025" and will be streamed exclusively on U-NEXT from November 28th.
"Geinin Cannonball" is a large-scale variety special produced by Kentaro Fujii, known for directing "Wednesday Downtown" (TBS). 16 comedians are split into four teams and drive around various locations, searching for people who perfectly fit the given themes at checkpoints, in order to reach the finish line. It was broadcast twice as a special in 2016, and became a hot topic.
This time, four teams - "Junior Team" led by Chihara Junior (Chihara Junior, Kukkie!, Goto Teruki, Koyabu Chitoyo), "Jun Team" led by Tamura Atsushi (Jun, FUJIWARA, Tanaka Takushi), "Ariyoshi Team" led by Ariyoshi Hiroiki (Ariyoshi, Ogiyahagi, Gekidan Hitori), and "Kawashima Team" led by Kawashima Akira (Kawashima, Nobu, Tsuda Atsuhiro, Hamaya Ryuichi) - will visit checkpoints while completing tasks, from Fujimatsu Observatory in Gotemba, Shizuoka, to Yomiuriland, Kugenuma Beach, Ebisu Garden Place, and the Shirosato Test Center in Ibaraki.

It's been nine years since the last broadcast... It wasn't particularly well-received in terms of viewership ratings or results, but it's a show that somehow left a lasting impression on us and others, and now it's making a surprise comeback. That summer has come again.
