It has been announced that Toei Animation will be establishing a new production base in Osaka City, the Osaka Studio. The decision to establish the Osaka Studio was made with the aim of further expanding production operations, acquiring talented talent in the Kansai region, and strengthening ties with the local community. The studio will also work with local creators and educational institutions, aiming to foster talent rooted in the local community and diversify its production structure.
With the recent development of networks and digital technology, we will support more flexible and creative working styles by creating an environment where creators can choose where they work.
Kiichiro Yamada, the company's executive director and head of production, commented, "The labor shortage is becoming more serious throughout the animation industry. For this reason, we have been recruiting creators from all over Japan and have decided that it is urgent to open studios in the regions in addition to our Oizumi Studio in Tokyo. This time, we will start by focusing on background art, and we would like to gradually challenge ourselves with the goal of having the same functions as our Oizumi Studio. Furthermore, as this is a studio being built from scratch, we hope that the Osaka Studio will not be bound by stereotypes and will have a culture of actively trying new things, making use of a variety of ideas and concepts, and will grow into a studio with a different appeal from Oizumi Studio."
