At Tokushige's (Matsumoto) suggestion, Shikayama will be treating Anjo Kota (Hamano Kenta), who has diabetes, and Takino will be treating his wife Sachi (Kurashina Kana).
However, Shikayama, who values efficiency, and Takino, who wants to spend time with patients, are constantly at odds. After listening to Sachi for two hours, Takino tells Shikayama, "You can be a little more supportive," to which Shikayama replies, "What's making you feel so good?"
Shikayama attends a case presentation session. A comment from Chayazaka (First Summer Uika) of the cardiovascular surgery department reminds him of an incident that occurred during his time as a medical intern. During an operation, Chayazaka's comment made Shikayama panic, causing him to lose his breathing and collapse.
After the case presentation, Shikayama confronted Takino, saying, "I think Dr. Chayazaka probably wanted to use me to inspire himself and the younger members of his team. It's frustrating, but yeah, there's nothing you can do about it. If it turns out you can't do it, it's quicker and smarter to just give up. I don't have any super exciting background, like my father is the head of surgery or a genius cardiovascular surgeon."
In response, Takino revealed herself, saying, "I'm sorry. It's true that I was feeling good. Just listening won't cure the illness. I turned a blind eye to the problem and said nice things. But I don't want to give up. I hesitated and took so long, it might be stupid, but I still want to understand Kota and Sachi. I want to cure the illness."
Afterwards, with advice from Tokushige, Shikayama and Takino are shown working together to confront the Anjo couple.
On social media, people were talking about how "The relationship between Dr. Takino and Dr. Shikayama is great. I love it," "It was good to see Dr. Shikayama and Dr. Takino working together to treat patients," "It was nice to see the young Dr. Takino and Dr. Shikayama growing up," "Takino and Dr. Shikayama have a relationship where they really compete with each other, and I admire that," and "It was good that Dr. Shikano and Dr. Takino's stances, which seem to be polar opposites, were able to learn what each other needed by working together."
